An eSIM is a digital SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) that lets you connect to mobile networks without a physical SIM card. It is built into your phone/device and can be programmed to connect to different carriers right from your phone. Traveling abroad? With an eSIM you can avoid high roaming charges while keeping your original SIM for calls and text messages. Our eSIM data plans support mobile hotspot, allowing you to share your data connection with other devices.

Make sure your phone is unlocked and eSIM compatible.
Apple: iPhone XS and newer (not including mainland China/Hong Kong/Macau versions of the iPhone).
Samsung: Galaxy S20 and newer (not including Galaxy S20/S21 FE).
Google: Pixel 3 and newer.
Huawei: P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro.
Check your phone settings to make sure your device supports eSIM: Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan. If you see these options, your device is eSIM compatible. For more devices see the list of Apple and Samsung eSIM-compatible devices.

Installation is easy and happens in a few steps:

1. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera.
2. Follow the instructions on your phone.
3. Turn on data roaming and set up the APN settings.

When you purchase an eSIM, you will receive a confirmation email. Your eSIM plan will not become active until you install your eSIM and it connects to a supported network at your destination. For plans that offer a fixed amount of data, you can use the eSIM for up to 30 days from the date of activation. The daily plans automatically renew every day until the chosen plan duration is reached.

Yes! This eSIM covers Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. In China, it connects to China Telecom and China Unicom networks. In Hong Kong, it uses the CSL network. In Macau, it uses the CTM network. The eSIM will automatically switch to the best available network in each region.

Yes, you can share your eSIM through a personal hotspot. Newer phones can share a connection via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB. Keep in mind that streaming video consumes more data, so use a Total GB plan to have a fixed amount with no daily limit.

You will generally receive 3G, 4G or 5G data speeds depending on the location and network coverage. Please note that in certain areas data speeds and coverage may vary due to the local network provider. After you have used your daily limit, speed is reduced (throttled) to 128kbps until the next day.

Your eSIM data plan for China only includes data. It does not include a local phone number for making cellular calls or sending SMS. However, you can still use your current phone number with apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, and other apps that use a data connection. If your phone supports dual SIM, you can keep your regular SIM active for calls and SMS while using your eSIM for data.

The eSIM data plan for China only includes data. It does not allow for cellular calls or SMS but you can still use your applications like WhatsApp to call and send messages.

It is not possible to top up your eSIM at this time. If you run out of data, you can purchase an additional eSIM.
